Victor Osimhen Secures Napoli Exit with Loan Move to Galatasaray

Victor Osimhen seems to have found a potential exit from Napoli, as he enters negotiations for a loan move to Turkish club Galatasaray.

The Nigerian forward had recently been linked with high-profile clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Saudi Arabian team Al-Ahli. However, the transfer window for Europe’s major leagues closed last week without securing a deal for him.

The Turkish transfer window remains open until September 13, and Galatasaray is in urgent need of a center forward due to an injury to Mauro Icardi. On Monday evening, Galatasaray announced on Instagram: “The player and his club SSCN Napoli SPA have begun official talks regarding the temporary transfer of professional footballer Victor James Osimhen.”

Osimhen was a key player for Napoli, scoring 26 goals during their Serie A title-winning campaign in 2023. Nevertheless, his career has been marred by frequent injuries.

Currently, Osimhen has not been participating in training with Napoli, who have since replaced him by signing Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea. Lukaku is reuniting with coach Antonio Conte, with whom he won Serie A at Inter Milan.

At 25, Victor Osimhen still has many years ahead in top-level soccer. Renowned for his aerial ability and distinctive face mask, he has netted 76 goals in 133 appearances for Napoli since his record €70 million transfer four years ago.

Frustration mounted for Osimhen last season as Napoli finished 10th in their title defense, despite him scoring 15 goals in Serie A.

If the loan move to Galatasaray goes through, Osimhen will be reunited with Dries Mertens, Napoli’s all-time leading scorer.
