50-year-old woman k!lled, her two sons injured over alleged witchcraft in Jigawa
A 50-year-old woman, identified as Furera Ibrahim, has been beaten to d3ath over allegations of witchcraft in Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The incident occurred on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Kwarin Shiddi in Katuka Village, when a group of family members launched an attack on the deceased.
According to a witness who spoke to newsmen on Wednesday, December 10, relatives of one Habiba who has been bedridden consulted a native doctor for treatment, and he allegedly named Furera as the person responsible for her illness.
“About ten of Habiba’s relatives stormed Furera’s house and attacked her with machetes and sticks,” the witness said.
He added that two of Furera’s sons were also injured while attempting to protect their mother from the attackers.
The injured victims were rushed to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital in Dutse for medical attention.
The spokesperson of the Jigawa State Police Command, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident, noting that investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Jigawa State Human Rights Network has condemned the k!lling, stating in a press release that it will ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
