The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old woman, Precious Anegbode for allegedly st@bbing her boyfriend, Damilola, to d3ath in the Ijegun area of Lagos.

It was gathered that the suspect visited the home of the deceased on Friday, April, 2025 where a fierce argument ensued.

The argument was said to have degenerated into an altercation.

A resident who spoke with Punch on Sunday, on the condition of anonymity, said neighbours heard a sustained noisy argument between the two after which Anegbode reached for a knife and stabbed Damilola in the process.

“We don’t know what led to the quarrel between both of them. We only heard them shouting and the next thing we heard the lady was wailing. When we got to their room, we saw the lifeless body of her boyfriend on the floor,” the source disclosed.

Another resident, who also preferred anonymity, said the neighbours of the deceased immediately took the deceased to the hospital, where he was confirmed d3ad.

“Some of the neighbours took the corpse to the hospital while others prevented the lady from running away. When they got to the hospital, the doctors on duty confirmed him dead. Then we later went to the police station to report the incident, and returned with some officers who came to take the lady away,” the resident added.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.

According to him, the incident was reported to the police the same day at about 11:30 am.

“The victim was rushed to Igando General Hospital, where he was confirmed d3ad on arrival. The nearest police station, Igando Division, was contacted, and the suspect was arrested,” the PPRO stated.

“Further investigation revealed that the incident occurred in another area of responsibility, and the case was referred to Isheri Oshun. Patrol and DCB teams were mobilised, and the suspect was detained at the Igando Division. The victim’s corpse was deposited at the Igando General Hospital mortuary.”

“Photographs were taken, and the scene of the incident was visited. The knife used in the stabbing was recovered, and blood stains at the scene were documented. The suspect made confessional statements under caution. The case file and suspect exhibit will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, for discreet investigation.”
