American rapper 21 Savage has shocked fans with the announcement of a brand-new album titled What Happened To The Streets?, set to drop this Friday, December 12, 2025.

The surprise reveal has sent a wave of excitement through the hip-hop community, coming just a year after the success of his Billboard-topping 2024 album American Dream.

The announcement was delivered through a gripping, cinematic trailer shared on the rapper’s Instagram page. Shot in black and white, the video follows a lone figure walking through a shadowy alley as snipers take position on rooftops. A rapid sequence of intense imagery — guns, fire, chaos, and symbolic visuals — flashes across the screen to the sound of a dramatic orchestral score before revealing the album’s title and release date.

The album cover, designed by London-based Nigerian contemporary artist Slawn, was also unveiled. The rollout continued at Art Basel Miami, where Slawn and 21 Savage showcased a massive inflatable sculpture featuring Slawn’s signature upside-down clown motif alongside the rapper’s iconic dagger emblem. The sculpture, carried through Miami on a truck branded with the acronym “WHTTS,” served as the first public clue about the upcoming project.

Streaming platforms currently list the new album as a 14-track project, though no singles, snippets, or tracklist information have been released. The secrecy around the rollout has fueled intense online speculation about the album’s themes, features, and musical direction.

The title What Happened To The Streets? suggests a return to the gritty storytelling and street-focused reflections that defined 21 Savage’s early career. Industry watchers note that both the timing and the mysterious approach align with the rapper’s ongoing effort to keep fans guessing while embracing a darker, more introspective tone.

This upcoming release marks 21 Savage’s first full-length project since American Dream, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and delivered multiple chart hits. In 2025, he has largely stayed out of the spotlight, making only limited appearances — including a feature on Summer Walker’s Get Yo Boy and a cameo on Travis Scott’s Jackboys 2 mixtape.

With the album dropping in just a few days, anticipation is at an all-time high. Fans, fellow artists, and industry insiders have already taken to social media to react to the news.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STREETS? releases worldwide this Friday.
