On Friday, June 28, no fewer than 103 Nigerians arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja after being deported from the Republic of Turkey.
They touched down at the pilgrims’ wing of the airport around 6:45 pm aboard a Southwind Airlines flight, registration number TC-GRB.
The deportees were received by various government agencies, including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS), and members of the military.

The reasons for their deportation are still unclear. The deportees expressed their frustration, claiming they were treated unfairly by Turkish authorities. They reported being detained for over 11 months before their deportation.
The deportees are now calling on the Nigerian government to advocate on their behalf and help them reclaim their confiscated valuables.
