10-Year-Old Boy Completes Arctic Fundraising Trek Returns Home Successfully
10-Year-Old Boy Completes Arctic Fundraising Trek Returns Home Successfully – After doctors once doubted that he might never walk, a boy has returned home following an Arctic trek as a tribute to his late father.
Caeden, a 10-year-old with cerebral palsy, braved temperatures below -29°C during the expedition. His father, Alan, passed away from bowel cancer at the age of 40, inspiring Caeden, along with his siblings Ashton, 12, and Khya, 14, and their mother Lisa Thomson, 38, to take on the challenge and raise funds for the Cynthia Spencer Hospice, where Alan was cared for.
The family, now back in Corby, Northamptonshire, after the Swedish Lapland journey, found the week-long trek, involving walking and camping, to be physically demanding but ultimately raised over £3,000 for the hospice and the NHS. Lisa expressed that her late husband would have been immensely proud.

“It was challenging for all of us, but especially for Caeden during the Arctic trek,” shared Mrs. Thomson.
“We spent eight hours a day outdoors. You’d admire the view and then realize, now we have to get back. The fresh air is very different—it’s exhausting.
“We provided mutual encouragement and kept motivating each other to persevere.
“Their father would have undoubtedly been proud—100%, massively proud,” she added. The family’s previous Ben Nevis adventure successfully raised over £20,000.
Caeden had previously climbed Ben Nevis in 2020, alongside his family, to raise funds for the charity Scope, collecting over £20,000. Lisa Thomson now hopes their latest challenge will generate £10,000 in support.
